About Buster, My Best Friend

Buster was my best friend for twelve years. He was a great dog. We loved to play frisbee in the park. He was such a talented dog that he almost always caught the frisbee no matter how far I threw it or in which direction.

One day Buster and I went fishing. I caught a lot of little fish and threw them up on the bank of the river. I didn't think about Buster at all. After about an hour I turned around and saw he had eaten all my fish. I was so angry I chased him into the trees. But he doubled back on me and led me back down to the water. Before you knew it we were both splashing the lake. I was laughing so hard I just couldn't stay angry at him.

Sometimes Buster didn't always have the upper hand. I remember one time I woke up early in the morning because Buster was barking outside my window. Only he wasn't barking all the time. I would hear him barking faintly and then his barking would grow louder and then it would grow faint again. When I looked outside our family cat was sitting on a planter beside my window and Buster was running around the house, barking mad. He was chasing the cat but couldn't find him!

Buster was a happy dog nearly all his life. We took trips together and often shared the same meals. We had a lot of fun. But there came a day when he seemed really ill. I thought he was just tired so I let him be. But he stayed sickly for several days. I finally took him to the vet and they said he had a terminal disease. There was nothing they could do for him. We took care of Buster for a few more weeks and gave him everything he wanted. When he was too weak to go on and in too much pain we finally had the vet put him down.

My whole family cried for two or three days after that. Buster had been such a big part of our lives we just couldn't help but feel a huge loss. I miss him to this day.

This site is my tribute to Buster. It's not all about him but it's dedicated to him.
